Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. 1 Peter 1:8
When I worked at Johnson Space Center in Houston TX, we couldn’t enter the site without driving through one of several gates. The guards checked for a sticker on the windshield indicating you were authorized to enter.
One guard, who worked mornings, went out of his way to make each driver feel special. He waved us through with a big smile. Sometimes he’d salute. No one could drive past him without feeling good. When asked, he said it was a ministry, to make sure everyone started their day with a smile. As you can imagine, there was always a long list of cars at his gate.
Do you know someone whose face always seems to be glowing? Every time you see him, he has a huge smile on his face. When you walk up to her, her eyes are shining with joy. Your heart lifts just to be around them.
We might say, “She has such a bubbly personality.” Or, “He seems to happy all the time.”
Perhaps these things are true, but Peter has another suggestion: They might be filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.
Do you know someone who glows with joy?
How do they bless you?
